One of Argentina’s oldest varietals, this rare barrel-fermented white is harvested from 60+ year-old vines and has fresh, clean citrus aromas with a hint of oak.
Enjoy fresh, clean citric and herbal notes. Flavors of citrus, tropical fruit, coconut, and caramel are elegant and soft on the palate. A lovely dose of crisp acidity provides a texture similar to that of Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc combined. A super dry and clean finish may make this the ultimate seafood wine.
Pairs excellently with most seafood dishes. Try with shrimp ceviche, steamed muscles, fresh oysters or grilled lobster.
The very young 2022 Semillon, made with grapes from Altamira, fermented mostly in stainless steel and 20% of the volume in new French oak barrels (going for more 300-liter barrels that they feel work well) to keep the floral and mineral expression of the grape in that particular place. Very good freshness and integrated acidity, with notes of apples and citrus freshness. It was a typical year in Altamira, perhaps with a little less concentration but good acidity and freshness.Wine Advocate November 2022
Waxed lemons, rosemary, grapefruit and apples on the nose. Waxy and textured, with a medium to full body, fresh acidity and citrusy, pithy finish.James Suckling March 2023
