One of Argentina’s oldest varietals, this rare barrel-fermented white is harvested from 60+ year-old vines and has fresh, clean citrus aromas with a hint of oak.
Enjoy fresh, clean citric and herbal notes. Flavors of citrus, tropical fruit, coconut, and caramel are elegant and soft on the palate. A lovely dose of crisp acidity provides a texture similar to that of Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc combined. A super dry and clean finish may make this the ultimate seafood wine.
Pairs excellently with most seafood dishes. Try with shrimp ceviche, steamed muscles, fresh oysters or grilled lobster.
Aromas of apricot, spiced apple, lemon peel, acacia honey and almond. It’s medium-bodied with tangy acidity and a gently waxy texture. Pithy and minerally, yet flavorful finish.James Suckling April 2021
The 2020 Semillón Mendel from Paraje Altamira, Uco Valley, was 15% aged in new barrels for six months. Vivid yellow in hue. The rewarding nose offers honey, white peach and a hint of basil. Slick on the palate with a packaged expression; the freshness brings energy right from the core, while the aftertaste is pleasant, complex and layered. The warm year may have done away with some of the detail, but the character remains intact.Vinous June 2021
The 2020 Semillon was produced with grapes from a vineyard at 1,100 meters in altitude and fermented mostly in stainless steel but with 15% of the volume in new barriques. So, the wine has a combination of fruit and spicy aromas. It's medium-bodied and has retained 13.3% alcohol from a warm and dry harvest, and it's nicely textured, as the grape is more about mouthfeel than aromas.Wine Advocate March 2021
