I found a curious leesy and smoky note in the nose of the 2018 Malbec that made me think of some wines reminiscent of toasted sesame seeds that I like very much. It feels flinty and mineral, which gives the wine a different personality. The palate is as soft and velvety as usual, with very fine tannins and great harmony that makes it very drinkable. A Malbec from old vines in Mayor Drummond, Luján de Cuyo, that spent 12 months aging in one-third new and two-thirds used oak. Bright purple in the glass. The nose features candied plum and jam and hints of pepper and allspice, as well as tomato preserve, vanilla and herbs. Concentrated, substantial and well-balanced, with a light, slightly rustic feel enhanced by the active tannins, which also deepen the profile. Well made in a ripe style. Vinous October 2020
