Everybody told us, "Don't do Burgundy--it's already been done." Well, we appreciate the advice (and mostly agree), but when you run into a guy like Christophe-Jean Grandmougin and you see his vineyards and taste his wines, sometimes you just have to say, "Uhh..how about just this one." So we did.

Christophe-Jean's Domaine St. Jacques is located in Rully in Burgundy's Côte Chalonnaise--sort of the "upper middle class" neighborhood of this world famous wine region. But there is nothing middling about his Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs. They are wines with incredible flavor and finesse, and you don't have to fax over your resumé in order to buy them. However, they are produced in very small quantities, so don't dawdle
