Review by Beverage Testing Institute

2000 Gusto Vita: 91 Points (Exceptional). Brilliant ruby red-violet hue. Intense aromas of cassis, licorice and leafy notes. A rich entry leads to a moderately full-bodied palate and a big finish with chewy fruit, elegant tannins, and a long, long finish. A very varietally expressive and age-worthy wine. Placed at #67 of the 4952 wines tasted in 2002!

Review by Wine Enthusiast Magazine (May 2003)

2000 Gusto Vita (Mendoza): 90 Points.
With licorice, pepper, coffee, wet rubber and mocha, this is a highly aromatic table wine, one that’s owned and made by the Davis Family from California. The mouth features cola, blueberry and coffee notes, and the mouthfeel is simultaneously stylish yet lush. It’s immensely smooth, big and bold.

Review by Wine Spectator Magazine (5/15/02)

2000 Gusto Vita: 88 Points. Bright, with raspberry and blackberry aromas and flavors, and fleshy texture. A slight balsamic note detracts in the end, but still solid. Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. Drink now through 2003. 500 cases made.Review by Wine Spectator Magazine (1/31/01)

1999 Gusto Vita: 89 Points. This fruit-driven winner throws a blast of blackberry, plum and blueberry flavor at you, then lets the toasty finish take over. Very good, though just a touch chewy on the finish.

Review by Restaurant Wine (Issue #80-November/December 2000, Global Wine Issue)"There are plenty of imported discoveries as well: 6 higher priced Argentinean reds (that will certainly alter your opinion of Argentina's ultimate potential)...

"1999 Gusto Vita: **** "Excellent". FIRST RELEASE. Very fruity and full bodied; a blend with spicy, plum and blueberry aromas/flavors, and overtones of toasted oak. Long finish. Malbec, Bonarda, Syrah, CS. [2001-2004]

Review by The Boston Phoenix (The Phoenix.com--Issue Date: March 8-15, 2001)

1999 Gusto Vita: Made by Guy Davis (a Sonoma winemaker), this is both lush and luscious, with rich fruit and lots of potent, earthy notes. Great with game and duck spring rolls, it will complement most robust, meaty flavors. The blend is 60 percent malbec, 23 percent bonarda, 12 percent syrah, and five percent cab. A dense and chewy wine that will age well.
