The best block selection from Limarí’s most concentrated chalky limestone soils.
Fresh, elegant aromas of apples, pears, lemons with tangerines hints layered by mineral tones. Floral honey and subtle English cream are also present with a buttery whisper beside the soft oak. Deep and structured, the freshness and fruit character are enhanced by mineral accents.
This is a versatile pairing wine - it could work with anything from firm flakey fish to chicken in a rich cream sauce.
The 2012 Merino Chardonnay Limestone Hill, is sourced from vines a little higher up on the slope in Quebrada Seca. Most of the wine is aged in barrel, and malolactic is blocked to retain freshness. There are no hints of a warm vintage anywhere to be found. The nose is slightly marked by the oak, with some battonage, which gives it a very Burgundian nose with the chalk and smoke notes intermixed with nectarine and citric aromas and a sharp, light to medium-bodied palate with good freshness and persistence. A fresh, mineral Chardonnay at a great price. The Wine Advocate June 2014
Hazy, green-tinged yellow. Ripe melon, nectarine and honey on the nose and palate. Fleshy and smooth in texture, with notes of orange and iodine building with air. Finishes with a subtle spiciness and impressive focus and tenacity.Vinous February 2014
