This timeless Malbec aged in Taransaud Burgundy barrels has incredible depth and stature. A wine you can drink now or cellar.
The aromas of sweet French oak and espresso get more complex with every swirl of the glass, unveiling black plum, ripe raspberry, and violet aromas. The wine is full-bodied, dense, deep and chewy with flavors of black raspberry, plums, roasted herbs, and mint.
This beauty could be enjoyed now with a nice ribeye steak or leg of lamb since it shows incredible balance for such a concentrated wine.
Bottled in September 2016, the 2015 Malbec is sourced from their old vineyard in Mayor Drummond in Luján de Cuyo. 2015 was not an easy vintage, but winemaker Roberto de la Mota explained how this old, organically-farmed vineyard with natural low yields was a lot healthier than the average, and they didn't suffer much from botrytis. There are some aromas of plum skin, hints of decayed flowers and some hints of development, perhaps not fully focused. It feels ripe, with black rather than red fruit. The palate is more austere than what the nose points at, with fine tannins and a sharp finish. I think it should be better with a little more time in bottle. The Wine Advocate December 2016
Dark walnut and berry character. Medium body, silky and polished tannins and a flavorful finish. Really delicious now.James Suckling June 2017
Deep, bright medium ruby. Very ripe on the nose, offering scents of singed black raspberry, licorice and Baker's chocolate. The super ripe dark berry, plum, spice and chocolate flavors spread out nicely to saturate the palate. Finishes with dense, broad, smooth tannins and very good length.Vinous/Steven Tanzer May 2017
